THE LATEST and GREATEST

by Kathleen

It seems that every time I bop around my Facebook newsfeed, an ad for some new contraption will catch my eye. I’m a sucker for anything that claims to be the best eyelash volumizer. I’ve got a drawer full of them. And those new eyebrow stamp thingies…who came up with that idea? Brilliant! Too bad I just ordered the paint-on kind that claims that it won’t wipe off. (We will see how that works…stay tuned.) Oh, that doesn’t mean I won’t order the stamp thingy. My eyebrows are not getting any younger, you know. In fact, as I grow older, the list of “things Kat needs now” is growing exponentially! Wrinkle creams, cellulite reduction supplements, sunless tanners, hair volumizers, exercise DVDs…ohhhhhhhhhh…the exercise DVDs……sigh.

And then today I saw a new saw that I KNOW Mark must have! It is sooooo coooool! Fits in the palm of your hand! Oh my gosh….my “honey-do” list is going to explode! And how about that new High Resolution Ultra-Portable LED Mini Projector that fits your pocket?! Are you kidding me? Yes please!! And don’t even get me started on those new flying cars! HOLY GEORGE JETSON!!! WHAAAAT???

You heard me: FLYYYYYYYING CARS!!!!

I can’t keep up with all of the great new stuff they say is headed our way. Thankfully, Facebook has a “save video” feature in the top right drop down arrow that I can employ. Someday I really need to go into that file and see all those ads I’ve saved. You know… where the “learn more” button sends you to a “Go Fund Me” webpage.

On June 13, 2016, Huffington Post featured an article by Toby Nwazor titled, “Five Emerging Technologies in Science That Will Shape our Lives in the Coming Years”. You can read the full article here. The exciting new technologies listed were:

1. Organic Electronics
Talk about Sci-Fi! They have found a way of controlling the neurotransmitters in our cells similar to the way we control our electronic devices! It has already revolutionized prosthetics. How exciting!

2. Nutrigenomics
Get this: Nutrigenomic scientists are working to determine the ideal diet based on your DNA, as well as prescribing certain foods to change your genetic makeup. (No more fat genes? Sign me up!)

3. Synthetic Biology
It’s just what it sounds like. Scientists have created a computer model of a bacteria and manufactured a “synthetic cell.” Yep. Buckle up Sarah Connor.

4. Redox Signaling Technology
This is our favorite one. Why? Because it was Redox Signaling Technology that brought us together. It was actually in the certified biotech sterile production facility that produces this amazing product for the public where we first said “Hi! My name is” and made plans for our first dinner date.
Mark and I will visit the topic of Redox Signaling Technology many times, I’m sure. It’s our passion and what we believe has been performing as a proverbial “Fountain of Youth” for us for the past few years. But for now, you can watch a video that explains the science behind the technology better than I can at www.scienceofasea.com.

It is important to note what Nwazor writes about this product, “New technology is emerging that inserts healthy redox signaling molecules into your body, helping to repair and replenish your aging cells. Since we are made up entirely of cells, every organ in the body can potentially benefit from this new technology.”

VERY exciting!

5. Neuromorphic Engineering
Oh…em…gee…this one actually freaks me out a bit. Scientists are creating computing systems that act like living organisms…machines that are actually aware of their surroundings. Cyborgs and the like. But they are combining human DNA in the mix and using nutrition to enhance performance.
*See #3

Now that I have your head spinning, why don't you order one of those eyebrow stampy thingies and tell me how it works. I really need to know.....

Chiao!
